2024 - Week 34

Arts & Crafts

Well, the shorts were being a pain in the butt. My sewing machine did not like the two fabrics I was trying to join together. Fabric glue wasn't sticky at all. I had to hand sew the four wide stripes on. I decided to just tack them every inch or so like this:

It held them while letting them move with the shorts easily.

I was scared to drill a hole in the green clay stone I made, but it thankfully turned out just fine. After an appointment in Kanata/Stittsville on Tuesday, I dropped by deSerres to get more soft clay to make the other 4 Stones of Power. There are many more, but I'll add those to my necklace sometime after the event. Having the 5 was the important part.

Then I finished the shorts and nearly finished the shirt. I added lettering to the front of the jersey shirt.

It needed ironing to set the lettering and more glitter glue to be done. I did the glitter glue while I had downtime and during the window where I couldn't iron it for about 13 hours. Really, I didn't iron it for longer because I had a Pride event in the evening went to bed shortly after it. The added glitter glue was absolutely an improvement. When in doubt, more glitter is the answer.

I was getting really excited for it all to come together along with the shoes I already had. I had one item left to buy, which was a tool belt. Really, I've been wanting one for renos anyway. I found one at Rona for ~$42 rather than nearly the same thing at Home Depot for ~$70. It's part of the character's outfit, but it would also be handy for holding my gloves, phone, and sunglasses.

On Thursday, I got the last of the necklace parts into the oven including the rest of the spacers for the future gems:

Once the day came, I scrapped the cape entirely. It was just too annoying and I wanted to be more comfortable and for people to see the number and the character's name on the back.
A full body shot.

Face up close.

All in all, it was a fun day despite leaving me quite sore in the feet and ankles from standing around on hard surfaces all day. My team lost both games, but that's OK. We got to go buy things to help support Bruce House.

Decluttering & Minimalism

This probably sounds silly, but I finally found the right product to keep my toilet clean. I was quite frustrated by this. And the best part? I could put it on and let it sit for about 30 minutes to have it come perfectly clean. It's rather like Barkeeper's Friend though I couldn't find that brand here. Lime Out is the one I found at Canadian Tire.

Gaming & Streaming

In Minecraft this week, I built a skyscraper in a friend's base. It uses Eucalyptus logs, which are rainbow coloured. I paired those with the much hated diorite because I'm evil like that.

I only had a small plot, so I went quite tall with it.

Goal Setting & Tracking

Arts & Crafts: Finish my costume for Drag & Balls and attempt makeup multiple times before the event. (100%)
Decluttering & Minimalism: Assuming I am ready for Pride, I will work on my craft & living rooms.  (5%)
Gaming & Streaming: Finish the outside of my skyscraper. (100%)
Lifestyle & Sports: Play softball in Drag & Balls for charity. (100%)
Music & Songwriting: Pause on this until next week.
Reading & Writing: Pause on this until next week.

Lifestyle & Sports

On Monday, I had a nap because I woke up too early, but a shorter one than I've usually been taking as I'm hoping to get back to my normal. Then I worked on my costume.

Tuesday was the two month checkup on my tongue. It has healed well. I will have another followup at the six month mark. After that, I picked up some last supplies, a cinnamon bun, and got pizza before getting back to the costume. I watched a couple episodes of JoJo's as I added lettering to the front of the costume.

Wednesday brought more glitter glue on the shirt's number and a 2SLGBTQI+ variety show with friends. I went to Rona in between work and my friend's place. The show was OK. I enjoyed the queer comedy show I went to awhile ago far more. I also felt like the Lez Go events were much more like having a lesbian bar for a night than this particular event was.

Thursday I planned to make more attempts at drag king makeup. I foresaw a lot of cold cream in my future. I also needed to pick up whatever snacks I wanted for the 6 hours I would be at Riverain Park after getting my fade refreshed.

Friday was a Queer Meet Cute event. I was nervous about it, but whatever happened, I'd at least possibly make a new friend. I'm unsure that happened really. There was at least one person I will probably run into again at the craft events though.

Saturday was Drag & Balls. It was finally time to do my costume and makeup. I needed to be at the field for 11:15 AM and I planned to take the bus, so I could have some drinks once I didn't need to play ball. Only a couple of people looked at me oddly. My team played in the first and the second games. We lost both, but it was OK.

Sunday was the day of the parade and no one really knew how that would go as many groups had pulled out of the parade, the community was split, and police presence was reduced, so the route also had to be reduced. I was still sore from the day before, so I watched it from home. It was shorter than the year before.

2024 - Week 5

It was still January for most of this week, a.k.a. The Neverending Month. Then it became February!  Each month, I do pull a card from my Music Oracles deck. Last month was Bob Marley. February's card is Nina Simone. A piano playing rebel & multiple genre legend will hopefully make for a phenomenal month ahead. I still haven't done a goals post for 2024. January was a lot. My goals for this year are: - Complete Sparker  and query agents. - Complete The Curse of...  and submit it to a screenplay contest. - Complete the declutter of Tiny Condo. - Blog at least once per week. - Cross train for curling and softball. - Learn piano. - Self-care with crafts, reading, gaming, and sports. I've tweaked my schedule to make this happen. I'd also like a partner, but I feel weird about setting it as a goal.

2024 - Week 43

Arts & Crafts  I started a summer quilt. I got the fabric a long time ago and it was a straightforward quilt as I just had to join the 20 fat quarters together. I'll need a backing fabric and a border to complete it, but I figured it's worth doing while the weather continues to be summery. I'm thinking a white backing and pink for the border. I've made progress on my Fairy Cross-Stitch, but there is a lot to go yet.  Decluttering & Minimalism I started the week by working on the space to sand my shelf. I didn't get through it all on Monday with work and everything else that day, but it was closer than it was before. Tuesday was curling, so I couldn't the shelf done then. I was really tired on Wednesday because I'm not used to curling being so late yet. Thursday was the last day of softball. It was Friday before I could really work on the shelf, though I kept working on the workspace. The packed weekend left me no time to do this, but I realistically ...

ROW80 2020 R4 - GOALS

I've gotten zero writing done recently, however, I had other pressing things.  HOME As my new bed frame was due for arrival last Friday (more on this later), I hauled ass and purged a bunch more stuff from my home. I brought a full carload to donation and started loading up again. I also dealt with my old mattress, which I'm repurposing for a couch. Now, I didn't fully complete it as I haven't figured out all the pieces, but I did get it cut up appropriately and moved out of my bedroom. I'm currently sewing it back together. As for my bedroom, I was able to do a major declutter and access areas I haven't been able to in months. But that area now has bathroom stuff in it. There is more to do, but I'm really happy with my progress of late. I've cut myself numerous times on the couch project including my heel finding a tiny piece of glass, my palm finding a wayward staple, my knuckle finding who knows what, my one thumb having a run in with a box cutter, an...
