ROW80 2020 R1-2

I'm enjoying blogging again now that I've returned to Blogger. I can just write a post and choose to bold a few words or make some links without it being cumbersome. And I don't miss having both tags and categories. Having just tags is simpler. Sometimes I feel like this world has gotten feature heavy.

I was able to get the vast majority of my posts automatically moved over. I cleaned up the tags. There are a few decisions to make, but largely I'm happy with it. The missing posts are all from 2019 as far as I can tell. I'll be slowly manually copying them over soon. Otherwise, I need to tweak my Poetry section. I think I can link to the tag. Right now, a lot of the poems were pages rather than posts, so I have a little work to do to have it all working how I envision.

FITNESS
I really enjoyed Iaido last Sunday. Class was cancelled today due to the amount of ice everywhere that has been covered with snow. Given how the rest of my week was, I'm not upset about it. And it gave me time to do some workout pages. My original plan wasn't working, so I'm just going to do Rushfit. It tells me what to do everyday like a trainer would.

FRENCH
I'm going to pause on this goal until the temp who will be taking care of my main role at work while I cover a colleague's maternity leave arrives and is decently trained up. I just don't have the bandwidth right now. Hopefully this happens soon.

HOME
I have gotten rid of a mirrored bathroom cabinet. It was the wrong size and too bulky for my needs. I'll be replacing it eventually, but there is no rush on anything there as I have another to purge and a vanity to demolish. Otherwise, I've been doing pretty well at my chores. I haven't always been doing them on the days I set, but I'm getting them done. I created a section in my planner for this too.

PIANO
I haven't played this weekend, but I had a packed weekend between D&D and a friend's birthday. I've also been pretty emotionally spent.

SELF-CARE
I started trying to learn crochet again. It didn't go well, but I had an epiphany and think I know why. I may actually be able to start crocheting sometime this year. Planning is going well and a friend gave me some pages to try out as some of the ones that came with mine aren't my favourite. A number of them are really cute and I've made some trackers with them. I'm reading daily inspirational quotes and 365 Tao.

WRITING
Writing is slow but at least it's moving forward.

Sparks: 75,091/80,000 words
The Mockumentary: 11/120 pages

2020 Vision

Mostly, I’ve been planning for the new year, but I discovered I know Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. It was a recollection under the influence that brought this to light. I also discovered I still suck at drawing, but I’m okay with that. I used to think I had to be good at everything, and I’ve realized that’s just not so. Some friends and I recently hit up a local board game pub. It was a pretty fun night. The first game was Balderdash and I was terrible at it. Because I was the writer in the group, some of my friends thought I should be more embarrassed about it and hide the fact that I don’t spend all my free time learning advanced vocabulary. But I’m not upset about it. Why? Two reasons: 1. I now know what I don’t know. 2. If one takes a close look at the top selling novels on the market, the level of the language used is not the level of many of the words in Balderdash. Not that I’m comparing my own work to those, but audience is what matters in writing. To me, it is far better to e...

Merry Monday - Lots To Do And Little Time To Do It In

[caption id="attachment_4711" align="alignright" width="300"] Image created using Bit Strips.[/caption] And thus we return to our regularly scheduled programming. Well, mostly. The colleges are still on strike. We had 21 days that had classes in my program prior to the strike. We've had 18 days worth of strike where we should have had classes. The strike has been longer than that for most students. I don't have Friday classes nor are any of mine on the weekends. I slowly plod on because I don't know what else to do. I watch videos on YouTube from the greats like Syd Field. I read my text books, though I could be doing more of that I suppose. I work on my assignments. I've been working on the first act of my feature film script, but I realized that I have other assignments that were due before that one that I should focus on instead. Namely my short film, my 10-minute play, and my TV episode. I may work on my TV episode today because I'...

Warrior Wednesday - Cross-training

[caption id="attachment_11040" align="alignright" width="300"] Image created using Bitmoji[/caption] Martial arts are a great workout, but it can be easy to forget that we need to do other exercises to ensure total body fitness. That being said, it doesn't have to take a lot of time or be a miserable experience. One of my Iaido mentors, 8th Dan Hatekenaka Sensei, does hot yoga when she isn't practicing Iaido. She practices Iaido every day whether there is class or not. Now Iaido is great for many things. Swinging a sword about takes *some* strength, so it works the upper body. It's important to mention that we try to get a sword that is a reasonable weight. Many are only a couple of pounds because they are a giant razor and don't need to be heavy in order to cut things. Also, a light sword should be able to be swung as thought it were heavy and a heavy one as though it were light. It also is helpful to prevent repetitive strain injuries. W...
