Canada Day 2022

I'm not celebrating Canada on this Canada Day. I'm not celebrating the history of a country who has so much to fix in how it treats its Indigenous People. I'm not celebrating a country where a nationalist faction held my city hostage for several months and continues to attempt to do so. I'm not celebrating a country where I as a gay woman was made to feel like I have to worry about persecution over my sexual orientation by that same nationalist faction in what is one of the most LGBTQ+ friendly places in the world.

Canada, to me, was always about a beautiful mosaic of differences. Differences that made the country a wonderful place to live.

We have some serious things to fix.

I am spending today with friends I've hardly seen due to necessary pandemic precautions we all took to ensure we all stayed alive. I am also enjoying a day off in summer.

But that's all today means to me right now.

I hope the future brings a place where hate cannot thrive.

2020 Vision

Mostly, I’ve been planning for the new year, but I discovered I know Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. It was a recollection under the influence that brought this to light. I also discovered I still suck at drawing, but I’m okay with that. I used to think I had to be good at everything, and I’ve realized that’s just not so. 2024 - Week 9

The week felt really long.  Arts & Crafts My calendar was looking quite packed, so I wasn't sure if I would get the time to reclaim my crafting space or not. Luckily, I had Friday afternoon off because I have some vacation I need to use up. I've got time off every Friday in March and I'm looking forward to it. I began reclaiming it on Thursday, so I could relax more on Friday as I had that earmarked for reading and relaxing. On stream, I began sticker bombing the doors of my media cabinet. One has dinosaurs. Another has games and music. Door three has neon stickers. The final door will have pride stickers on it. I didn't get started on it. I also ran out of stickers, and had to wait for more to arrive. I'll be working on it more during the week and I will likely not finish it on stream as I'd like to get my doors back onto my cabinet as soon as possible. The craft is a mix of fun and frustration. Change is in the Air

I've been making a lot of changes lately around my home and some of them might seem a little odd, but they're making me happy. One thing I've done is taken apart my dining table. I never eat in there or have people over to eat. It was just another horizontal surface that would collect things like receipts, odd screws from various projects, and countless piles of paper. I had been frustrated because of the clutter it encouraged, but also because I didn't have a space for my Yamaha keyboard. I had been trying to use my keyboard in the living room, but it felt too cluttered and it wasn't sitting at the right height. With it now in my dining room, I was able to relocate my storage bench, which happens to be the perfect height to sit at while playing my keyboard. I now have much more breathing room.
