Ottawa Comiccon 2015 - Day 3

Thankfully I didn't wake up quite so early this morning.

I didn't make it to any panels today. I hung out with friends, shopped, and did a lot of walking. I also had a nap in my car. My feet screamed at me, but I had to deny their request for amputation. On I went to visit a friend despite their protests.

I chatted about writing and how it can be fun to play with timeline to move a story along in a non-linear fashion. I do these things, but because I haven't studied them to the level someone with an English degree has, I wonder if I'm doing them properly. I guess when I get to the point of beta readers, I'll know.

I suppose it's odd that I never take pictures of other people in costume. I guess I don't need pictures of strangers? There were a lot of sweet costumes though. There was a Hulk that was Hulk-sized.

I want to be in the masquerade next year. I think it would be fun to cosplay a character from something and do it well. I'm thinking of doing Tiny Tina for a cosplay for next year and I have a feeling I'll need to start making the costume in June to be able to pull it off. I also need to start playing the video game the character is from for... research purposes... At least I already own the game. Alternatives include Hit Girl from Kickass, and Kaylee from Firefly.

I'm starting my journey here in selecting the cosplay character I should do. I'm less than 5 foot tall, so it could be fun to do a short character. I'm not into much animé, so I'm trying to find short characters outside of it that I'm actually a fan of because I'd feel odd cosplaying something I don't watch.

I'm having grassfed beef hotdogs for supper because someone had a hotdog earlier and it looked really tasty, but I can't eat regular junk food. They'll be wrapped in lettuce.

Today I threw a Steampunk outfit together:

Well I'm off to cook food, play guitar, and hit up some videogames.

Ciao,
R~

2024 - Week 5

It was still January for most of this week, a.k.a. The Neverending Month. Then it became February!  Each month, I do pull a card from my Music Oracles deck. Last month was Bob Marley. February's card is Nina Simone. A piano playing rebel & multiple genre legend will hopefully make for a phenomenal month ahead. I still haven't done a goals post for 2024. January was a lot. My goals for this year are: - Complete Sparker  and query agents. - Complete The Curse of...  and submit it to a screenplay contest. - Complete the declutter of Tiny Condo. - Blog at least once per week. - Cross train for curling and softball. - Learn piano. - Self-care with crafts, reading, gaming, and sports. I've tweaked my schedule to make this happen. I'd also like a partner, but I feel weird about setting it as a goal.

Frisky Friday - Maple Syrup Porn

[caption id="attachment_10523" align="alignright" width="300"] Image created using Bitmoji[/caption] While delving into some Canadian film history this week, I learned that there is a thing called Maple Syrup Porn. I laughed when I read the term. I thought, "Is our adult film industry really called Maple Syrup Porn?" It's not. Some is Canadian, but it mostly refers to getting around censorship of sex. It was not only common in Quebec due to religion, but several places in the US. You can read more about it here . If you're looking to heat things up this weekend, consider a sweet old film from the early days of the sexual revolution. Maybe even drizzle a little syrup on your partner ;) Guid cheerio the nou, R~
