Thoughtful Thursday - Group Work

[caption id="attachment_4713" align="alignright" width="300"]wonder_wednesday Image created using Bit Strips.[/caption]

There are times I really abhor group work.

Today is such a day.

Why?

Here's the list of things we have to do that are worth marks:

A 10-Minute Play
A 7-10 Page treatment for our original TV episode for an existing TV show
A rewrite of an objective document for a term project
A presentation that is also a term project
A short film 1-pager
A revised 1-pager for a feature film
An outline for the feature film
Probably an outline for the short film
Act 1 of the TV episode
More steps for the feature film
Actually writing the feature film
Actually writing the short film
Acts 2 and 3 for the TV episode
A script for a PSA
Comedy show skits to help raise money for our pitching trip
Catching up on reading so that the assignments are done properly

But hey guys, let's spend a bunch of hours filming something that probably doesn't have marks attached to it. Clearly it's a high priority because we would've been doing it if the strike wasn't a thing. Also, don't worry about the fact that the entire giant list of things will be due as soon as the strike is over. Or that you'll have other things like quizzes on top of that to do.

I may be a little cranky today.

Sorry.

As a former project planner and manager, I truly struggle with patience when it comes to prioritization skills or lack thereof.

Generally, I can rip through writing things quick enough, but every once in awhile, there's that project that is inexplicably difficult. The short film seems to be that for me right now. I can see it playing in my head, but as I put it down on paper, it doesn't seem to convey what I want to convey. Some of it comes from my own brief experience living through it and I'm unsure if it's something other people will be moved by. Part of me also just wants it done, so I can focus on the next important thing.

I also haven't been sleeping well since the strike and have been desperately trying to catch up on this.

That's life I guess?

Not really. In reality, lots of people will either flat out tell you that your low priority stuff isn't getting done anytime soon or they'll say they accept it and "forget" about it.

I can certainly see why our teachers refuse to read things that aren't assigned projects.

Anyway, I'm going to try and finish this short film 1-pager before covering my naked ass and heading to the bus.

R~

2024 - Week 5

It was still January for most of this week, a.k.a. The Neverending Month. Then it became February!  Each month, I do pull a card from my Music Oracles deck. Last month was Bob Marley. February's card is Nina Simone. A piano playing rebel & multiple genre legend will hopefully make for a phenomenal month ahead. I still haven't done a goals post for 2024. January was a lot. My goals for this year are: - Complete Sparker  and query agents. - Complete The Curse of...  and submit it to a screenplay contest. - Complete the declutter of Tiny Condo. - Blog at least once per week. - Cross train for curling and softball. - Learn piano. - Self-care with crafts, reading, gaming, and sports. I've tweaked my schedule to make this happen. I'd also like a partner, but I feel weird about setting it as a goal.

Frisky Friday - Maple Syrup Porn

[caption id="attachment_10523" align="alignright" width="300"] Image created using Bitmoji[/caption] While delving into some Canadian film history this week, I learned that there is a thing called Maple Syrup Porn. I laughed when I read the term. I thought, "Is our adult film industry really called Maple Syrup Porn?" It's not. Some is Canadian, but it mostly refers to getting around censorship of sex. It was not only common in Quebec due to religion, but several places in the US. You can read more about it here . If you're looking to heat things up this weekend, consider a sweet old film from the early days of the sexual revolution. Maybe even drizzle a little syrup on your partner ;) Guid cheerio the nou, R~

2024 - Week 43

Arts & Crafts  I started a summer quilt. I got the fabric a long time ago and it was a straightforward quilt as I just had to join the 20 fat quarters together. I'll need a backing fabric and a border to complete it, but I figured it's worth doing while the weather continues to be summery. I'm thinking a white backing and pink for the border. I've made progress on my Fairy Cross-Stitch, but there is a lot to go yet.  Decluttering & Minimalism I started the week by working on the space to sand my shelf. I didn't get through it all on Monday with work and everything else that day, but it was closer than it was before. Tuesday was curling, so I couldn't the shelf done then. I was really tired on Wednesday because I'm not used to curling being so late yet. Thursday was the last day of softball. It was Friday before I could really work on the shelf, though I kept working on the workspace. The packed weekend left me no time to do this, but I realistically ...
